Job description of the system administrator

1.1. This job description defines and regulates the powers, functional and job responsibilities, rights and responsibilities of the system administrator [Organization name in the genitive case] (hereinafter - the Company).

1.2. The system administrator is appointed and dismissed in accordance with the procedure established by the current labor legislation by order of the head of the Company.

1.3. The system administrator belongs to the category of specialists and reports directly to the [name of the position of the immediate manager] of the Company.

uninterrupted operation of computer equipment and local area networks of the Company;

ensuring safe working conditions, maintaining order, fulfilling fire safety rules in the department's premises.

1.5. The system administrator should know:

decisions, orders, orders, other guidance and normative documents of higher and other bodies concerning the methods of programming and the use of computers in information processing;

the structure of the Company's network;

server resources of the Company's network;

rules and procedure for eliminating problems encountered by network users;

technical and operational characteristics, design features, purpose and operating modes of equipment, rules for its technical operation;

hardware and software networks;

the principles of the simplest hardware repair;

normalized programming languages;

applicable standards, number systems, ciphers and codes; programming methods;

systems for organizing complex information protection, methods of preventing unauthorized access to information;

the procedure for registration of technical documentation;

internal labor regulations;

rules and regulations of labor protection;

safety regulations, industrial sanitation and hygiene, fire safety, civil defense.

1.6. Persons with a higher professional education and work experience in servicing local computer networks for at least 3 years are appointed to the position of a system administrator.

1.7. During the period of temporary absence of the system administrator, his duties are performed by a person appointed in accordance with the established procedure. This person acquires the corresponding rights and is responsible for the proper performance of the duties assigned to him.


2. Job responsibilities

The system administrator performs the following job duties:

2.1. He independently works on the basis of confident knowledge of the basic parameters, requirements, installation rules, methods of identifying and troubleshooting network operating systems and user environments, knows how to work with them professionally.

2.2. Tracks the update of the specified.

2.3. Installs custom programs and network programs on servers, workstations and personal computers.

2.4. Organizes workplaces for users.

2.5. Supervises the installation and commissioning of equipment by specialists from third-party organizations.

2.6. Configures and optimizes network and server based on company capabilities.

2.7. Develops and submits proposals for optimization and development of the network, including the purchase of equipment, for consideration by his immediate manager.

2.8. Ensures the smooth operation of the server, network and personal computers.

2.9. Maintains the working state of the server software, workstations, personal computers of users, connected and not connected to the network, mobile communications, printers, faxes, including develops and implements a system of preventive measures.

2.10. Provides the integration of software for managing databases and data streams of the server and workstations.

2.11. Provides network security (protection against unauthorized access to information, viewing or changing system files and data) and security of interconnection.

2.12. Takes exhaustive measures to prevent network problems from occurring while away.

2.13. Solves problems in the operation of the equipment and software of the network, server, personal computers, mobile communications on its own.

2.14. If it is impossible to troubleshoot problems in the operation of computers, server, network on their own, contact the technical staff when identifying malfunctions of network equipment.

2.15. At the same time, he actively participates in the restoration of the performance of these systems.

2.16. Organizes access to local and global networks, including using mobile communications.

2.17. Provides postal services, registers users, assigns IDs and passwords, and updates data in a timely manner.

2.18. Teaches users how to work in the network, keep archives; advises users on the use of computers, programs, networks.

2.19. Draws up instructions for working with network software and brings them to the attention of users.

2.20. Keeps a log of system information, prepares other technical documentation.

2.21. Takes comprehensive measures to save data, including in the event of network problems, on the server, in individual computers, including ensuring timely copying and backup of data.

2.22. Monitors the use of network resources and disk space, identifies user errors and network software problems.

2.23. Conducts explanatory work.

2.24. Informs his line manager about cases of network abuse and the actions taken.

2.25. Maintains and timely updates the website (home page) of the Company on the Internet.

2.26. Manages a PBX and a video surveillance system.

If necessary, the system administrator can be involved in performing his official duties overtime, by decision of the head of the Company, in the manner prescribed by labor legislation.


3. Rights

The system administrator has the right to:

3.1. In agreement with the immediate supervisor, establish and change the rules for using the network.

3.2. Request from managers and specialists of the Company the necessary documents and information regarding the structure of the network and the server of the Company.

3.3. To get acquainted with the documents defining his rights and obligations in the position held, the criteria for assessing the quality of the performance of official duties.

3.4. Submit to the management of the Company proposals for improving the work related to the responsibilities provided for in this job description.

3.5. Require the management of the Company to ensure the organizational and technical conditions necessary for the performance of official duties.


4. Responsibility

4.1. The system administrator is responsible for:

4.1.1. Disruption to the functioning of the network due to incorrect routing management and incorrect administration of the underlying network services.

4.1.2. Untimely notification of the management about changes in the routing of data flows.

4.1.3. Late registration and updating of identities and addresses.

4.1.4. Late notification of management about cases of network abuse.

4.1.5. Failure to take measures to suppress identified violations of safety regulations, fire safety and other rules that pose a threat to the company's activities and its employees.

4.1.6. Failure to comply with labor discipline.

4.2. Bears financial responsibility within the framework of the contract on material liability in case of damage to the company and (or) its employees.

5. Working conditions

5.1. The system administrator's work schedule is determined in accordance with the internal labor regulations established by the Company.
